If Mickey Rourke ever decided to stick to doing respectable stuff like John Grisham’s The Rainmaker, the discount bin would lose one of its finest, gamest players. In the Die Hard retread Point Blank, Rourke does his best Bruce Willis as the lone crime fighter in a Fort Worth mall that his brother and some escaped cons have taken over. Things don’t go so well, even with costars James Gammon, Frederic Forrest, and Danny Trejo adding a real sense of down-home Texas sadism, until Rourke literally flips the action to the next level. He does a series of backhand springs through the smoke and haze of a construction site to avoid shotgun fire. Of course, it’s not really Rourke doing the Blade Runner bit, but that doesn’t spoil any of the fun.
