Though the late Wings singer and songwriter Linda McCartney received little respect during her lifetime, Wide Prairie — a compilation of 16 of her solo tunes, with husband Paul as producer and sideman — isn’t quite so easy to dismiss. The simpleminded domestic anthem ”Cook of the House” is genuinely terrible, but the poignant ”Love’s Full Glory” manifests a sweetly unaffected amateur charm and the animal-rights broadside ”Cow” makes its point with subtle passion. B-
