Something was definitely lost in translation on this CD-ROM travelogue based on a Japanese TV series. See the World by Train, UK Edition‘s stilted narration sounds like a language-study tape. (”How about something sweet? England is known for its chocolates.”) And its format is not particularly interactive. On a trip from London’s Paddington Station over the green English countryside to Penzance and on to Liverpool, for instance, you may view washed-out QuickTime videos of each leg of the journey, but you can’t elect to skip any stops.
