We gave it a D
It’s amazing how fast drum-and-bass music went from the dance clubs to the dentist’s office. The conduit? A producer named Simon Climie, who, operating under the name T.D.F., here mixes watered-down avant-dance beats with Lite jazz and some slicked-up acoustic blues from Eric Clapton (!). No credit for Clapton appears on the album. He should be thankful, since Retail Therapy does for electronica what Deep Forrest did for world-beat music — make it into uppity Muzak.
