Judging by the fuzz and feedback on the 35-band compilation Succour: The Terrascope Benefit Album, psychedelic rock is alive and well. Over two CDs, ethereal melodies and drones abound: Old hands (Peter Buck, Robyn Hitchcock) join touted indie maestros (Flying Saucer Attack, Palace) and the undeservedly obscure (The Linus Pauling Quartet, The Bevis Frond) in creating a feast of mind-altering sonic delights, raising some much needed cash for Ptolemaic Terrascope, the English fanzine devoted to propagating the glories of the bygone ’60s acid daze.
