We gave it a C

The documentary Paradise Lost is a deeply unsettling look at the horrific 1993 murders of three young boys in West Memphis, Ark., and the possible legal railroading of three heavy metal-loving teenagers who may or may not have committed the crimes. With its handy time line, thumbnail who’s who, movie- theater guide, and links to relevant Internet sites like the Arkansas Supreme Court’s home page, Paradise Lost (www.gothamcity. com/paradiselost/) is a useful companion. There’s a form to send filmmakers Joe Berlinger and Bruce Sinofsky comments and questions, but at press time the webmasters hadn’t fulfilled their promise to post the responses. And though you might think an online bulletin board would be a natural for debating the thorny issues the movie raises, the people behind this site apparently don’t agree. For the time being, the site’s as shallow as the movie is profound. C
