”Battlefield Earth,” ”Michael,” and more will keep the actor on the big screen for years to come

John Travolta may never have to stage another comeback: He’s signed on to do so many films between now and 1998, he’ll can’t possibly be away long enough. In addition to Primary Colors, A Civil Action, and Have Gun Will Travel, here’s even more from the feverishly working actor’s dance card.

1 Michael Schedule: Wrapped. Due Christmas. Role: Travolta portrays a hard-drinking, junk-food-craving archangel with a roving eye. Costarring William Hurt. Salary: $11-12 million*

2 She’s De Lovely Schedule: Wrapped. Due fall ’97. Role: Joey, the other man in Robin Wright and Sean Penn’s relationship. Salary: Scale, and done as a favor to director Nick Cassavetes.

3 Mad City Schedule: Wraps Nov. 17. Due April ’97 Role: Travolta is a security guard who finds himself in a crisis situation. Dustin Hoffman costars. Salary: $20 million.

4 Face Off Schedule: Starts early November. Due summer ’97. Role: Travolta is a cop who tries to outsmart a terrorist (Nicolas Cage) by impersonating him. Salary: $20 million.

5 Battlefield Earth Schedule: Starts December ’97. Due 1998. Role: In this flick based on a novel by Scientology founder L. Ron Hubbard, Travolta plays a rebel hero who tries to protect the earth from an alien invasion. Salary: $20 million.
