Joe's Apartment

Posted on

While not as witty as the MTV- derived comedy about a boy and his cockroaches, this site will probably be better attended, given the film’s dismal box office. Joe’s Apartment the site is a trifle disappointing, however, especially since it comes from the ace team responsible for the Twister and Eraser sites. You’ve got your cast bios, multi-megabyte film clips, music samples, and storyboards, but there’s little of the loopy creativity that enlivened those other sites. Only in the ”Roach Online” area do the laughs kick in for Internet junkies: wicked parodies of AOL chat rooms (”species/sex?”), suck.com, Playboy Online, HotWired, and Time Inc.’s Pathfinder (not to mention links to Orkin and scholarly treatises on Blattodea). Between this site, the Bad Mojo CD-ROM, and that scene in The Rock, it looks like roaches are the bugs of the moment. Gregor Samsa, call your agent. B-
