We gave it a B+

That George Jones is country music’s greatest living vocalist after so many years of single-minded self-abuse is a miracle. Clean and sober, the aging Possum has settled into a relaxed, genial groove for the last four or so albums. Though he’ll probably never again scale the tormented heights of ”Window Up Above” or ”The Grand Tour,” he still packs a three-minute performance on I Lived to Tell It All with enough surprises, enough effortless virtuosity, to make you shake your head, amazed again.
