It’s hard to imagine anyone buying a Dogstar EP for the music. While the four songs are passable — grunge lite that skirts originality more diligently than Bush — what rakes in the ladies at the trio’s gigs is the unshaven presence of bassist Keanu Reeves. Dogstar: Quattro Formaggi‘s multimedia elements — home-movie backstage banter, preshow antics, and performances you’d expect in a Bon Jovi video — will engage hardcore devotees. To anyone else, the unimpressive graphics and stock candid footage paint a picture as run-of-the-mill as the music. C
