Michael Jordan: Above & Beyond

Posted on

Chicago Bulls coach Phil Jackson likens Michael Jordan to Michelangelo. And true enough, it’s impossible not to enjoy the artistry of the man at work on his 94-foot canvas. Adding to the thrill of the highlights footage of Michael Jordan: Above & Beyond are the awestruck descriptions of his moves from fellow players, including Magic Johnson and John Salley. Jordan himself offers some touching emotional revelations, but the storytelling, which follows his life into NBA championship No. 3, through early retirement, his baseball sojourn, and this season, lacks spark. I wish the NBA Entertainment factory that spews out these tapes were as creative as its subjects. Still, it has the rights to the Sistine Chapel: M.J. and an orange ball. B
