Rosie O'Donnell's book deal

The stand-up comic nets a large payday for her new book

Posted on

Warner Books will pay Beautiful Girls‘ Rosie O’Donnell more than $3 million to write one of those wry memoirs that have become such a standby for stand-up comics (Butler, DeGeneres, et al.). What’s unusual about the high advance is that O’Donnell doesn’t have a sitcom. She is, however, slated to star in an upcoming variety show produced by Warner Bros. Her publisher surely hopes it’ll be a hit: The book, which will include both autobiographical and comic material, won’t be out until fall 1997.
