We gave it a D-

A criminally insane couple stalk the upscale young marrieds (Vincent Spano and Moira Kelly) who adopted their abandoned child in this not-bad thriller that initially missed its Tarantino-ish target audience by making the yuppies the good guys. The Tie That Binds should do well on tape, since the decent-suburbanites-battling-wild-things scenario has become a staple of the direct-to-video market (In fact, the movie is awfully reminiscent of the 1995 Scott Valentine flick Till the End of the Night, right down to its climax in the framework of a future dream home). The small screen also manages to tone down the heavy-handed symbolism and does wonders for Carradine’s and Hannah’s viciously feral performances as the Natural Born Parents.
