We gave it an A-

The Killers, making its home-video debut on this laserdisc in a first-class transfer, is vintage film noir, a doom-haunted, lower-depths story about a chump (Burt Lancaster, in the role that would make him a star) who falls for a femme fatale (Ava Gardner at her slinkiest) that’s told almost entirely in flashbacks. Criss Cross, also included in this package, basically recycles the same elements, and its centerpiece armored-car robbery is a legitimately classic sequence. Unfortunately, there’s a gaping hole where the heart of the picture should be — world-class Bad Actress Yvonne DeCarlo. A
