We gave it a B

The rapper Eazy-E, who succumbed to AIDS last March, was better known as a hustler, businessman, and gangsta-rap founder than as a first-rate rhymer. This retrospective — drawn mostly from his spotty solo work, with a few tracks from N.W.A — won’t change that perception. But hits like the groundbreaking ”Boyz-N-the-Hood” and the funky ”We Want Eazy” are enjoyably raw (and music history to boot).
