Details about The Rembrandts video shoot — The ”Friends” theme song features the stars of the show rocking

The scene:
NBC’s studio 8H in New York City, best known as the set for Saturday Night Live, where heretofore unknown rockers the Rembrandts (Danny Wilde and Phil Solem) are shooting a video for their song ”I’ll Be There for You” — better known as the Friends theme song.

The Rembrandts get by with a little help from their… :
Adding some star power — and some Monkees-esque zaniness — to the shoot are Friends cast members David Schwimmer, Courteney Cox, Jennifer Aniston, Matt LeBlanc, Matthew Perry, and Lisa Kudrow.

Name that tune:
The show’s success compelled the Rembrandts, songwriters Michael Skloff and Allee Willis, and Friends executive producers to write a few more verses for the song, originally a 40-second ditty. Unfortunately, the only things anyone can remember are the chorus and the hand claps.

Wanna play a monkey?
The first video script called for Marcel to portray the director, but with his film career in high gear (Outbreak and NBC’s Virus), David Schwimmer and Jennifer Aniston got the parts instead.
