Colin Dexter: What I'm Reading

Posted on

I’ve been in America recently, and in an airport bookstore, I picked up The Firm, by John Grisham. I thought that it was a very good book — jolly good to read on the airplane. As I get older in life, I read more and more biography. I just read the A.N. Wilson on Tolstoy, a very stimulating read, and the book The Brontës, by Juliet Barker. There are 101 books on them, but this comes as close to the definitive book as there is. I read on trains and planes and before I sleep. I don’t have all that much time to read. There are only so many hours of day in which to mow the lawn, listen to music, have a pint of beer.

Colin Dexter’s new Inspector Morse novel is The Daughters of Cain.
