Boxed sets are for diehard — those who want digitally remixed versions of favorites plus heaps of collectibles and unreleased material. In that regard, the Moody Blues’ four-disc Time Traveller is bound to disappoint even those who still swear by the enduring British art-folkies. Winding its way through hits, album tracks, solo releases, and comebacks, the box touches on music that, at its most evocative (”Nights in White Satin,” ”The Voice”), was magnificent kitsch. But with the exception of one measly studio outtake (and a bonus CD of live tracks), all of it has been previously released. Fans aren’t getting anything new except a booklet that illustrates how rock stars should not be allowed to wear frilly shirts after 40. Then there’s the matter of some of the Moodys’ creamy madrigal-rock not having aged well — but that’s another story…C
