We gave it a C

His name’s above the title, so British writer-director Colin Nutley must be a big cheese over in Europe. This human comedy, Colin Nutley’s House of Angels, is small potatoes, nevertheless. Angels tells of a rural Swedish village whose closed-minded inhabitants come in for a shock when a freethinking performer (Helena Bergstrom, who resembles a raw-boned Jodie Foster) inherits her grandfather’s estate and brings her punky friends along. Wavering between the endearingly sloppy and the just-plain sloppy, it’s an art-house movie for those afraid of art. Bergstrom’s a find, though-a gamin with her gears stuck between brain and heart. C
