The John Prine Anthology: Great Days

type:
Music
Current Status:
In Season
performer:
John Prine

We gave it an A+

Easily one of the most distinctive lyricists of the singer-songwriter school, John Prine excels at wry portraits of lovable losers (”Donald and Lydia”) and life’s absurdities (”That’s the Way That the World Goes ‘Round”), all of which have only improved since his stunning 1971 debut. To the unconverted, his rudimentary melodies and wheezy voice may get tiresome, but that would be missing the point. It’s Great Days: The John Prine Anthology and no one writes songs as succinctly poignant and occasionally goofy as Prine.
