We gave it a C+

Last year the press roasted this toaster for his homophobic track ”Boom Bye-Bye,” which may be why his major label American debut, Voice of Jamaica, is so nauseatingly politically correct (from the antiviolence ”Tribal War” to the PG-rated safe-sex primer ”Willy Don’t Be Silly”). The only raw thing left, his rugged vocals, competes too much with lively backup singers and stock production. C+
