WHEN IT WAS A GAME 2 (1993, HBO, $14.98) Like its 1992 predecessor, this HBO production recaptures baseball’s golden age (1925 to 1961), using only home movies taken by players and fans. The unique perspective is further enhanced by radio broadcast excerpts, reminiscences by old players, and reflections by the likes of Billy Crystal and Jason Robards. Among the memorable passages: a rare look at Depression-era barnstormers, an elegiac glimpse of Babe Ruth late in life, and an ode to Ebbets Field and the beloved Brooklyn Dodgers. Altogether lyrical. A- -MS
