Shadow of the Wolf

Posted on

Shadow of the Wolf Lou Diamond Phillips, Toshiro Mifune (1993, Columbia TriStar, PG-13, $92.95) An Inuit Indian (Phillips) who kills a white man has to fend off a polar bear, a wolf, and a Canadian policeman (Donald Sutherland), but there is precious little drama in this arctic tale. The Inuit must also deal with a feminist wife (Jennifer Tilly), although it’s 1935. While the filmmakers obviously have taken pains to make the physical details authentic, everyone speaks English as if they’ve been doing so since birth. D+ -Lawrence O’Toole
