The Glass Bottom Boat

Posted on

As Doris Day vehicles go, The Glass Bottom Boat is especially leaky. Ostensibly a farce about spies targeting a high-tech NASA gravity device, it’s mostly lowbrow slapstick designed to jiggle Day’s physique (nowhere more shamelessly than in her on-all-fours battle with a demented automatic kitchen). But at least this letterboxed disc doesn’t crop out half the supporting cast the way tape and broadcast versions do, so you won’t miss any of Dom De Luise’s inspired mugging or Paul Lynde’s multilayered turn as a security agent in drag.
