Sure, it’s a fine line between art and crap. And treading that line are these objets — 1992’s campiest collectibles:

MICHEAL JACKSON PERFUME Legende de Michael Jackson for men and Mystique de Michael Jackson for women, each featuring a hologram of the Gloved One. But which fragrance does he wear?

STAR TREK CHESS SET A full board of 24-carat-gold and sterling-silver electroplate playing pieces ($29.50 each), allowing Kirk (gold king) and Spock (gold bishop) to battle Klingons, Romulans, and other Federation foes. Bobby Fischer thinks it’s a Zionist plot.

JERRY GARCIA TIES Eight designs (including Nude and Undertow) from the Grateful Dead guitarist retailed for $28.50 apiece before selling out last summer. A new collection is now in stores. Al Gore wears them, but Garcia reportedly said when asked to model one for an ad, ”It’s bad enough you want me to design them, now you want me to wear them?”
