About the only thing these movies have in common is that they seem to be playing on TV every night at 2 a.m. Nevertheless, they’ve now been reissued together, in Paramount’s ”Great Movies, Great Prices” promotion. Finally, the world can see them intact, without commercial interruption.

But even sans Ginsu spots, The Geisha Boy, starring Jerry Lewis as a bumbling magician on a USO tour of Japan, is still a subpar mishmash of slapstick and sloppy sentiment. Papa’s Delicate Condition, a turn-of-the-century comedy starring Jackie Gleason as a lovable tippler, is still a nostalgic snooze. And The Possession of Joel Delaney, starring Shirley MacLaine as a wealthy divorcee confronting her kid brother’s demons, is still a dated, dreary thriller. Die-hard fans of these three stars may find something worth watching. Everyone else would be better off to wait for those 2 a.m. airings — then switch channels. C+
