We gave it a C

It’s not hard to see why Cover-Up, a quasi-political thriller never made it to movie theaters. For one thing, it revolves around Arab-Israeli tensions that veer too close to real life to qualify as escapism. For another, it unfolds so sluggishly that it never works up much dramatic momentum. Add to that a musclebound action hero who hardly sees any action, and you’ve got the makings of a no-win film.

Dolph Lundgren has only three fights in his role as an American reporter investigating mysterious terrorist attacks in Tel Aviv. This may be enough violence for most reporters, but it leaves Lundgren with a lot of time to fill. Repeatedly stuck in situations that require him to speak dialogue — and register emotion — Lundgren gets a chance to stretch his acting muscles, but while he’s doing that the movie goes limp. C
